7 Tips For Your Oxytocin-Filled Birth Experience

Do you want to have a beautiful, transformative, peaceful, and calm birth experience? (of course you do!)

In order to create this type of experience, you need the hormone called "Oxytocin". Oxytocin is the hormone that brings on contractions (and brings your baby into the world!) and is also known as "the love hormone".

Why? Because with Oxytocin you will:

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Feel pain relieving, stimulating endorphins

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Be able to keep your body calm and relaxed (which is KEY for an unmedicated birth)

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Feel the strong feelings of love for yourself, your spouse, and your baby

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Have assistance in your immediate postpartum experience (think: breastfeeding, less bleeding, and healing).

Now you know a bit about why it is important, but how can you boost those oxytocin vibes?!

Here are a few ideas:

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Play music or affirmations in the room

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Keep the lights dimmed or off (twinkle lights make it extra cozy!)

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Have all of your personal comfort items handy: pillows, blankets, cozy clothes, etc

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Diffuse your favorite oils for relaxing and familiar smells

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Keep your door closed and ask anyone to knock before entering

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Ask that those around you (beforehand) to use soft voices and respect your space

šŸ‘‰šŸ»Kiss and hug your partner if you are wanting physical touch

.... really anything that helps you to feel safe, secure, and calm.

This list works for both home and hospital births- be sure to bring all the relaxing items to the hospital if that's where you plan to give birth!
